Andrea Barone directs K-Pop music video for EXO
Dirty Films Director Andrea Barone reflects after shooting a music video for electric K-Pop group EXO, for their song What A Life. Andrea explains that even after 10 plus years in the industry, you still learn something new every shoot.
“It has been a very unique experience working with such huge Korean artists.”
Shooting in Los Angeles, a city with one of the largest Korean populations outside of the country, Barone experienced the something of K-Pop fandom.
“It was a bit tricky to move with EXO from set to set, running away from big groups of screaming fans, all ready to get a picture of their K-Pop idols!”
Andrea loved working with local crews and teaming up with talented up-and-comers.
“I had the honour of working shoulder to shoulder with cinematographer Jeff Bierman, a great DP who’s already worked with the biggest American artists.”
Despite the possible clashes that could come with an LA Crew shooting K-Pop, Andrea and co worked well together to create a brilliantly stylised music video. Reaching more than 10 million views in less than a week, the video was a huge success for the duo and for the production.
