As far as subgenres of music videos go, I’d rank cool funerals pretty highly. The Kills had the market cornered on it recently with their 2016 video for Doing It To Death dripping with cool – but now Sundara Karma have a pretty good shot at the crown with Explore. Shot on 16mm on a sunny day in Abney Park cemetery, Stoke Newington, the procession sees the band and a cast of misfits put someone to rest, and look damn good doing it.
Identical twins, lovers, an iguana, an amazing looking hearse and the band performing in between graves makes for a dreamy clip, as Ruben Woodin-Deschamps’ gorgeously composed shots slowly creep in and out of one another.’
